Location

In the anterior region of the neck, inferior to the occipital bone, in the depression between the origins of the sternocleidomastoid and the trapezius muscles.

Functions

Expels wind (exterior and interior), benefits the head and eyes, clears the sense organs, activates the channel.

Contraindications & precautions

Critical Deep needling directed superomedially risks the brainstem; direct toward the tip of the nose, max 1 cun.

Technique

Oblique toward the tip of the nose 0.5–1 cun.
