Bloodletting

Definition
Releasing a few drops of blood from a superficial vein or point with a lancet or three-edged needle (a pillar of Tung treatment).
Steps
Find dark/prominent veins in the reaction area → disinfect → quick prick → let blood flow until it lightens → dress.
Tools
Lancet, three-edged needle, cupping glass.
Indications
Chronic pain and blood stasis, high fever, heatstroke, acute sore throat.
Contraindications
Bleeding disorders, anticoagulants, severe anaemia, pregnancy, severe weakness.
