- Insertion of a sterile single-use needle at a defined angle and depth to obtain de qi.
- Steps
- Locate → disinfect → quick skin entry → reach depth → de qi → manipulation (tonify/reduce) → retain 15–30 min → withdraw and press.
- Tools
- Needles 0.16–0.30 mm, 15–75 mm long, guide tube.

- Bleeding disorders, local infection, forbidden points in pregnancy, dangerous points (pneumothorax, vessels, nerves).
